Please list the major parts of the PC by brand and model number. This will help with checking compatablity and quailty parts issues.

Double check that the CPU heatsink is mounted correctly nad that the 4 pins are fully latched.
Make sure that both the 24 pin and the square 4 pin power connectors are plugged into the motherboard. The video card may also have an external power connection from the PSU.

I think i shorted the board because i forgot the plastic spacers (i now have it on the cardboard box.

Please elaborate on "nothing happens". Compatibility and quality is fine.

Sorry, just getting angry with myself (havent built sence 98 came out) it just sits there, no fans turn on the PSU has a orange light (one time i left the room and i came back and it was green liked it booted but i didnt touch anything) I really think I messed up the board by not useing the spacers.

You may have, but you can pull the video card and ram out and see if the board starts. As long as the board, PSU, and CPU are good, it should start.

Could you clarify something: when you said you didn't use the plastic spacers, did you screw the motherboard directly on the mounting plate? These plastic spacers: do they look like washers or are they the stand-offs that snap into the case mounting plate?

The mobo dident come with any but in the book they said to use them, I used old screws I had and went from board to case (stupid quick idea I was too excited)

Stand-offs should come with the case, not the motherboard. If the case didn't have any(generally they are hex shaped metal studs with a threaded hole about a 1/4" long) and you screwed the motherboard flat on the case mounting area, then I would say that the motherboard and the PSU are probably gone.

The PSU looks fine it can light up the case (when connected to the board) thats what throws me for a loop how can it send energy to the case and not boot.

A PSU puts out many different voltages(3.3/5/12/5 v stand by/turn on signal line). If any of these are bad, PC won't start but may provide a voltage to active stand by lite on the mother board/spin fans.

Did you install the brass standoffs or just screw your board into your case?

That ThermalTake power supply only has 29v on the 12v rail, perhaps that isn't providing enough power for a 7900GS.

NB, please read the whole thread before you jump in with something like that.
