I have already set my CMOS to the defult settings, set my time/date. I changed the boot order so that the CD/DVD Rom will boot first, then my hard drive so I can install my OS.
When I boot up I get the following message:

Media test failure check cable.
Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent.
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.

The system disk (Windows XP SP2) is already in the CD/DVD Rom. And when I re-insert the disk the system can't seem to find it.

what type of HD are you using? SATA or IDE
If SATA, make sure it is plugged into the first SATA socket/if IDE set jumper to CS and put at the end of the cable.

Is the hard drive jumpered to CS (Cable Select), as Flanzig already asked?

NB: the HD is SATA, he probably needs to set the DVD jumper to CS.

I've tried the Master setting and also the CS(Cable Select) jumper, and neither worked. I know the DVD drive works, I just used it in another system today set on CS.

Perhaps the XP disc is damaged? Try it in another PC.

That was my first thought. But the disk works in my other computer. I even switched the opitical drives. But I recieved the same error message.

Try a different IDE cable. If that doesn't work, RMA the motherboard, the IDE controller is defective. We don't recommend ECS boards, by the way.
