I've got a completed unused and untouched computer with no OS installed on it. I've read reviews and things on Vista and it seems that all the pros outweigh the cons. I've made up my mind and i'll get Premium OEM and I would like to get it but before I do:

1) I realise the difference between 32 and 64bit and the problems that can lie ahead if you get the wrong one, but how can I tell which one to get? I've got an Intel E6600.
2) Is it a bit too early and I could become a Guinea Pig for MS with a bug-ridden OS?

Thanks for any tips and tricks you can provide, folks! :)

We have been recommending that people buy copies of XP with a Vista Upgrade Coupon for new machines. That way you can have the stability of XP for now and upgrade to Vista in a few months, after the first Service Pack comes out. Then the biggest bugs should be squashed.

Thanks for uber-quick responce! What exactly is the 'Vista Upgrade Coupon', though?

Many software/hardware vendors are offering a "free upgrade-coupon" when you buy a copy of Windows XP. Usually you will have to pay shipping and don't expect to get your copy of vista tomorrow, if ya know what I mean. But like the other guy said- In a few months, eh.

What specs are this 'unused and untouched computer'? It sounds like it might be an older one that you have sitting around. I wouldn't put Vista on anything less than a P4-2.4Ghz with 1GB of RAM. You will need a pretty good size HD as well.
