Downloading Forms

Usually in order to print forms you need acrobat reader (free) That is kewl, but I need to put up forms to be printed with acrobat reader or an alternet method. How do I do this? Any good software recommendations?

If you want to create PDF files, you can buy Adobe Acrobat (not cheap). If you have a scanner that came with Adobe Photo Deluxe, some versions will install a PDF Writer as a printer driver. This works fairly well.

Adobe cashing in on its PDF monopoly has made those prices ridiculous. Check out 5D .. formerly NikNak from www.5-d.com (http://www.5-d.com) they have an eval. version too.

Have installed the evaluation version of 5D and scanned a form and converted it to a PDF file. Now what is the proper html code to use so that it can be printed from a web page by a viewer? Am I asking too much? I could not find it anywhere in the 5D help file!

Just upload your pdf file to your webserver, use appropriate anchor tags to point to the file and thats it... also helps if it opens to a new window cos depending on your pdfsize and client speeds its helpful if the browser window is not stuck on loading that file.

Assuming your HTML document and your PDF file are in the same directory, if not just add the dir. location..

Ex, Thanks! Now that worked like a charm! You knew it would! The only thing that I had to do was select a method to open a pdf file and of course I chose the acrobat reader.

So far I am using 5d as an evaluation product. I may need to spring for Acrobat though. Thanks for your patience and help.

Its my pleasure.

Regarding the query that your browser had, its kinda quirky, for most ppl if they install the pdf reader at the after their browser they have no such questions. There is a workaround, but then again its not necessary to delve into that.

PS: i tried the adobe acrobat, and I've always found 5D is a lot more versatile. just my opinion

Now I guess I was crowing too soon. The form works fine from the hard drive and the pdf file will "download to a disk" from the internet. But when I try "open from current location" it does open acrobat reader and then says to me "There was an error opening this file. The file does not exist" I am still working with it,

I think that I see the problem but I do not have any idea how to corret it. The pdf file is being downloaded but not to a location that Acrobat can find it or likes it. It is going to Windows/Temporary Internet Files/Content IE5/ I will need to check another computer to see if it goes to a likable place on that one! Oh my, why me?

Ok everyone especially Ex, I got it! I downloaded and reinstalled the acrobat reader and now it loads the pdf file and shows the form as it should!

Thank you very much, I will now pursue purchasing 5d pdf per your recommendations..
