Hi, I'm wondering if it's possible to install an ordinary PC Win XP Home CD into a LG LS50a Laptop? As the Laptop Service (Win XP Pro.) CD is missing. Your help will be appreciated. :)
You mean as in format the drive and install Win XP home? As long as the CD key which you are going to use to install XP home has not been used on another PC, its fine, but you cant use a XP Pro key to install home.If you want to Re-Install Pro just find someone with the CD and use the key which should be on the bottom of the laptop. Im sure you can even buy a XP Pro CD for cheap with no key.

Yes FLG, I meant formatting the drive ;) . I've installed the PC XP Home CD into the Laptop & it works fine, so far. The reason why I was asking was because a friend of mine installed a Laptop Service CD into his PC because he had the same problem as me, after he installed it, he had all sorts of problems with the PC, he took it to the computer shop to find out what was wrong & they told him that the Laptop service CD was not designed for a PC & that he had to reformat it with an ordinary Win XP CD, so he had to buy a new XP CD  . That's why I asked as I didn't want the same trouble happening to me!! Lol.

The reason the laptop CD didn't work is because it was a service CD from an OEM (original equipment manufacturer) CD designed for that model. The same problem would have happened if he had used a CD from an OEM desktop. A normal retail version of windows will work on any PC, but those repair CDs you get with a Dell, HP, or whoever are for that model and that's it.
