Hi, not sure this is the correct section, but it's the closest thing I could find.

My brother got a new phone last week that has a tiny card in it, that can fit into an adapter that look like something from a digital camera. He doesn't have a card reader, so he purchased something from radio shack allowing him to put the tiny card into a usb thumb drive.

He can't transfrer any mp3's or photo's, he always gets a message saying the disk is write protected. I havn't seen it for myself yet, thought I would post here first before I drove to his house, maybe someone here has had this happen before, and knows a work around.

Thanks, Mark.

The SD cards have a write protect switch on the side of them, see if it is an SD type card.

If it is a MicroSD or transflash as they are also known there will be no switch on the memory card itself. It is on the larger-sized adapter.

Talked to him earlier this evening, he says he didn't see any kind of switch or write protection thing. He sent an email to the manufacturer, so he might recieve a reply tomorrow.

I'll let you know of any progress.

Thanks, Mark.

Are you sure you aren't talking about a sim card?

Pretty sure, the sim card is under the battery, this comes out of the side of the phone.

But I havn't actually SEEN the phone yet. It's my brother's, and he's the one having trouble, I'm trying to go off what he's told me.

I'll see him this weekend, so if doesn't have it working then, I'll post with more specifcs.

EDIT-- He found a little button on the card that says "Lock". He though that was to lock the card into the adapter.

That's actually the button to lock the write protection on the card.

Thanks for the help rj and sgt.
