Hello,
I'm working on a Gateway 6020GZ, The original 90 watt AC adapter died 5 months ago (no voltage output) & I purchased a replacement directly from Gateway. Since then, all has been working great. :)

Now once again, the battery isn't charging. The laptop doesn't indicate that it's even plugged into an AC outlet. (oh no, here I go again I said  ) So again, I check & measured approx. 16VDC output from the AC adapter. Looks like the charger is working fine (green led is on & it has 16 Vdc output). The battery only powers up the laptop for a minute or two, it's drained. I suspect the the solder joint(s) on the power connector in the laptop are at fault. The owner told me at one point if he wiggled the power connection on the back of the laptop it would intermittently work. I've got skills enough to solder SMC components (pretty steady hands) so touching up solder joints won't be a problem. Does anyone have a disassembly diagram or file? :)

Thanks!

Hello,
Does anyone have any information what so ever regarding the dissassembly of any brand laptop? Service Manual maybe? or diagrams? or link to another website? :(
I was quoted $275+ USD to resolder/replace the AC power connector inside the laptop, I thought that was a bit too much. Considering I have some electronics background, And having built over a dozen gaming desktop PC's in the past.

Thanks!

Here's one site that specializes in just Toshiba laptop. Did you try a google search for "Gateway laptop repair instructions"? That or something similar may point you in the right direction.
