After building my own pc, im trying to install win98 from CD, but win98 doesnt want to play.
It gets into the setup, asks what folder i want to install to, and then gives some pop-up errors: general protection fault in GDI.EXE, divide by zero overflow...
Before you ask i have fdisk'ed, and formatted and sys'ed the C: drive
Help?

Three things come to mind that can cause that error. Bad RAM, bad hard drive, bad motherboard. Try some different RAM to see if that cures the problem. If the drive formatted OK, then the drive is probably good.

Go into BIOS setup. At "PNP OS Installed", select NO or disable.
Disable com 2 if not in use.
Pull all cards except video.
Install windows.
Install other cards one at a time.

I had the same error when I built a computer with an Epox board. I had to set the FSB to 66 rather than 100 to eliminate the problem.
