Hi. I would like to know how to back up my ICQ contact list. The ICQ that I am using is ICQ 2000a.

The FAQ on the ICQ site said the there is a folder by the name of "Newdb" and that is the folder to back up that contains the contact list but I could not find the folder. I also did a file and folder search but it is no there or anywhere on my hard drive. http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/frown.gif

Please help. http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/smile.gif

Go to NoNags (http://www.nonags.com) and do a search for ICQ. There's a backup proggy there for free.

Not hard to do at all matey. Here goes:

Go to services button then message archive and open it - (top option)

Then at the bottom of your message archive you will have a folder called xxxxxx's Address Book. Right click on that and chose export address book. To bring in more contacts use the same procedure just choose import.

Hope this helps.

In my ICQ 2000 there is a folder called "2000A" which has the database.

Thanks for the help Danny G and glc.

BTW Danny G. I was not able to export the address book until I downloaded the "Message Archive plug-in."

Thanks again. http://www.pcmech.com/ubb/smile.gif

It's simple.
You just hafta make a copy of the 2000a and UIN folders in your ICQ folder.
Thats what I backup when I reinstall.
