My father's friend has recently bought a new laptop and has just bought sbc yahoo dsl to go with it.

I went over to help set it up, but well its sure not playing nice.

The sbc install disk runs alright, but inevitably it can't access the internet - gives a sort of message saying so. When trying to log into the modem (Siemens 4100) @ 192.168.0.1, entering the user/pass says it can't connect to the target.

I think the issue could be his user/pass - perhaps entered wrong, but I'm not too sure.

I'll look into it further tomorrow, but do I need to do anything special on vista to make it connect? Or should it be pretty straight forward like on XP?

Thanks for any help! :o

Have you made sure his account is active - you can do that by going to mail.yahoo.com and trying to log in there with his full username and password. Full username is username@domain.com. If his account isn't active, you can manually set it up at your place by going to https://sbcreg.sbcglobal.net/DSLRegWeb/ and set it up. Then the modem should take his password and do its thing.
