Hey is there a way to convert DVD data such as .vob files back into an MPEG or .MOV? I have a video CD of my daughter on a roller coaster ride that we bought at a theme park that was shot by a little camera in the roller coaster car. I can put the CD in my optical drive and choose to explore the disc and I see the .vob file which is the video but I want to convert it back into an MPEG. Any ideas? THANKS!

Hi,

sure. You can use DVD Decrypter (IFO mode) or VOB edit to demux the VOB files. Then, you can multiplex them to an MPEG file using mplex, Imago MPEG Muxer, TMPGEnc etc. etc. etc.
As you only demultiplex and multiplex again, there will be no quality difference at all.

Hey, I did it with none other than Windows Media Encoder. I put the disc in my player, went to 'My Computer', right clicked the disc/drive and chose 'Explore', found the .VOB file that I wanted and copied it to my PC. Then I opened Windows Media Encoder and chose the VOB. file as my source and chose to encode it into a .WMV file. I chose DVD quality video and CD quality sound. It then proceded to peg my CPU at 100% for ten or twelve minutes (God I want a Kentsfield!) and BINGO. I now have my video that I can now put into my home videos of the kids. COOL! I never would have thought it would be that easy. I'm psyched!
