View Full Version : Should I control my fans, or should I let Asus do it.

The ASUS motherboard I'm planning on buying has something called A.I. Basicly it checks temperatures and ups or lowers the fans as needed. I have a fan controler but now I'm thinking I might not need it.
Any advice about the pitfalls of using a fan controller over letting the MOBO do it?

As long as its set to a reasonable temperature and your not overclocking its fine.
A fan controller would just give you more control.

With a motherboard control of fans, you can set your own temp setpoints. The down side of controlling alot of fans from the motherboard is the extra load on the board. A fan controllers are manual adjustments but the fans are powered direct from the PSU. Away to get the best of both controllers is to put the primarary exhaust fan under motherboard control and the rest on the fan controller and set to a low to medium speed.

Thanks I think I'll do that.

On my NF3 board I let the board do it...
It has Smart Gaurdian and it will ramp them up and down according to temps...
makes for a very quiet PC...and you can adjust the stort stop limits...Not sure how thorough the Asus is but either way is fine...

I let Asus do the work and it does it perfectly. Both my current Mobos have AI.
