I hope this is the right forum for this thread .I just installed windows xp on to a new 80 gb maxtor hard drive to replace my ageing 20 gb .after the swap I ran a full system restore .Now I can get DVD playback .The DVD-ROM will read the disk ,but when I try to play it in windows media player I get this message "Windows Media Player cannot play DVD video. Open Display in Control Panel, and then lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. To view the DVD Troubleshooter, click More Information".So I lower the screen resolution to 800 x 600 and the color to 16 bit .It don't do DA trick. so I try using power DVD and get this message ''DVD-Video playback graph building failed error code :8004027A".So I thinking that the drivers are missing or bar or something .If any knows what could be causing this problem your input would be greatly apperached.
PS. I have my graphics card out of the system cause it went bad ,but it hasn't been in the system since the full restore ,I've just been use the onboard graphics Till I find a Standard pci card to go back in .The onboard isn't much to Bragg about 16 Mb ,but my Manuel says that it is capable of DVD playback . Thanks
