Hello People of Tech Forums,

I made a computer just recently and was able to boot it. It worked after installing Windows XP and all, but when i tried to connect to the internet it wouldnt work. I tried to use the lan ports that came with the Mobo but the lan ports dont light up as a color to signal if its working. I was able to connect the mouse and keyboard so i dont think its the Mobo but could anyone help?

I have the P5B -Deluxe Mobo with 8800Gts VC(screen connected to videocard) also 2 SATA Seagate 400 GB internal hard drive, 2X2GB RAM (ill tell detail if you want to know but in a rush right now so sorry) a DVD burner..

Connections seem fine (i hope) but if you could help it would be nice. Thanks

Moved to Networking/Internet Connections.

The motherboard should have come with a driver CD that contained drivers for the onboard LAN. Did you install those? If not, do so.

Did you install the LAN drivers from the driver cd that came with the motherboard?

Ok, two things to try:
1) Go into the device manager (My Computer => right click => properties => hardware => device manager) and see if anything is labeled with an exclamation point.

2) Go into My Computer => My Network Places => Network Connections and see if your network card is listed (a 1394 port may be listed as well; that's firewire, so ignore it). If a LAN connection is shown, right click and in its properties window, make sure it's set to automatically get an IP. Then disable and re-enable the lan port.

*edit* You might also try pinging the router: default IP is 192.168.1.1

Please check in device manager for any exclamation marks next to a piece of hardware.

You also need to make sure the adapters are enabled in the bios.
