When I scroll with the mouse or arrow buttons the screen will travel a little then, I don't know if this is the right word but, rewrites. This is very annoying. My system is as follows:

ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe
AMD Athlon 3000+ Barton
ATI All-in-Wonder X800X
2 GB Mushkin Dual Channel
Samsung 740N Monitor
430 Watt Thermaltake PSU
2 ea NEC 3540 RW CD/DVD
WD 250 GB SATA HDD

Yesterday I posted regarding a black screen while trying to reinstall drivers. I was successful in doing so. I don't remember having this problem in the past? Any ideas?

Double check the resolutions settings in Display Properties. Should be at 1280x1024 at 60hz.
Does the "rewrite" happen all the time or with a particular program? May want to check the video card for dust build-up in the fan.

The resolution is set at 1024 X 768, @ 75 Htz. I like the size of the writing at this resolution. I changed the resolution and there was no difference. I cleaned the inside recently. It is clean now and there is little heat. I have several case fans.

Did you try the refresh to 60Hz. Refresh rates really mean nothing with LCD monitors execpt for the native refresh of 60Hz. Not like the CRT where you would increase refresh to prevent flicker.

Yes I did. Do you think that it could be an old driver?

This happens when you reinstall Windows or just never updated your drivers. This happened to me when I didn't download my drivers and with the default version it makes scrolling down choppy. If you have got the latest updates and you know for sure I can't help.

I've had the same thing with some past ATI drivers. Try a different driver.

I,ve heard that there are drivers for ATI that have been modified to improve performance. Does anyone recommend these?

I like the drivers modified by Omega. When I had the same condition you've described, I switched to his drivers and fixed my problem.
