Hi Gang

I know I am not the sharpest pencil in the box but I think I can do a simple download on my computer. But something is driving me nuts. I hope some one does not come on here and tell me I am the only one having this problem, that will drive me over the top. I know there has to be at least 2 million people out there having this problem.

I have XP sp2 and all the rest of the stuff, IE7, etc. I am trying to download a TV program for my wife that she missed, and it says in the process that you have to have Adobe Flash player installed, ok so far. It takes to the little download site and you do all the clicking and it finishes and says you have the Adobe flash player installed, Ok so far but you don't have it installed really, everything tells you do, but you don't. I have done a search for it, and everything, and it is not installed on your computer, no where. I have tried this and followed all the directions to a t, and it will not install. This is not the first time I have tried downloading this, probably have tried it at least 10 times, using different methods. Nothing seems to work.

Please tell me what I am doing wrong, or is it Adobe that is playing games. I hate it when such a simple sounding thing does not work.

Any hep will be appreciated. Sorry for the long dissertation, just trying to save being asked for more information.

Thanks and take care......Gunny........

Take a look in the Add/Remove programs list and see if Adobe Flash player is listed. It should be if it installed correctly. Only other glitch I've seen is the need to override the IE pop up blocker prior to the download. The Flash player uses Active X and you have to manually allow the download.

Hi Panama

I have looked there already in my process of seeing what was going wrong, and I have 5 things listed under Adobe and none saying flash player. The thing that gets me is it tells me it is installed correctly. But it never asks me where I want to put it. And the install takes a blink of the eye. It says if you see this logo and text, it is installed correctly. But you can turn around after doing the install and try to open what you needed it for and it tells you again you must install Adobe flash player. I also have tried stopping my firewalls, pop up blockers, etc. It don't seem to make any difference. I would prefer to see an error message, as compared to this.

Thanks and take care.............Gunny....Who said computers can be frustrating.

I think Adobe Flash Player is used with Linux browsers like FireFox while Adobe Shockwave is used with IE and Windows. You did say you're using IE, right?

Hi Panama

Yes I am using IE7. Those 5 things I have in my add and remove programs, Adobe shockwave is not one of them. I wonder why.

Thanks.................Gunny

Actually version 9 used with IE as an ActiveX object lists itself as Adobe Flash Player 9 ActiveX in add/remove programs. The version 8 plugin for FF/Opera etc. doesn't get an entry. You may be having an IE7 issue, Gunny. I have IE6 and that's what my add/remove says.

In IE 7 go to tools, manage add-ons, enable or disable add-ons. See if you see adobe flash object in the list of add-ons. If it's not there, something in the install didn't go right.

It'll show as Shockwave in IE7. The Flash object Active X info is on the far right of the description.

Hi Mojo and Panama

I did like you said Mojo and sure enough it is not there, enabled or disabled. And Panama I downloaded that Adobe Shockwave, and it down loaded like you would expect it to. Unlike the flash player. I have that shockwave in my add and remove programs too, but no flash player. So it seems just like you said about flash player being for a different browser then IE 6 or IE 7. I think what I will do is dump the whole Adobe mess, and start again. And make sure it has the Shockwave with it. GLC said some thing about Adobe 9, I did not see that.

Does this Shockwave work with IE 7 like the flash player works with the other browsers, and when I come across something that says I need flash player to view this will Shockwave kick in then.?????

Thanks and take care.........Gunny
