I've been thinking of getting Vista Home or Vista home premium. I have quite a bit of games on my Win. XP that are XP or 98 compatable with XP. My question is if the XP or 98 games be able to run on Vista. Does Vista have a compatability mode like XP to be able to play games from windows XP, 98 and 95 ? Thanks

If not, just download the virtual machine from Microsoft... I'm using it to play some old DOS based games that I miss... I have, if you can believe, Windows 95 loaded on the virtual machine.. it works quite well and I've been playing Kings Quest 6.

LinksLS 2003 does not work for a start. It goes crazy on my Vista machine.

Don't get the home basic version, go for at least Home Premium. The basic version excludes the graphical upgrade to the menus and such, so basically you'd be getting a newer version of XP. I believe whatever version you get will automatically optimize itself to your system. So if you lack the graphical power to run the animations and such but you bought Premium Home, it will automatically disable all the animations for you.
Vista supposedly comes with its own version of a compatibility wizard, and should work with stuff at least back to win 98.
