I've been threatening the guys on the FAH team with the notion of bringing an SMP box
on line, but in doing my home work it seems you need a 64 bit distro ( linux ) but the
SMP client is 32 bit.

on forum says you need ELF 32 support, another says you need "ia 32"

I have both flavors of FC6 X86 and the 86_64

have tried to find out if the 64 bit disto supports 32 bit apps to no avail.

Is there a specific reason why the SMP wont run with the 32 bit distro of FC6

ok you need 64 bit linux to run SMP and you will need the 32 bit libraries.

If you don't mind trying out ubuntu I have a how to install guide telling how to get SMP and ubuntu setup from start to finish that I could post the link for you or probably just copy it over here.

thanks for the reply, I was wondering if any one would respond, If you could post the link I could try to adapt it to FC6 . I already have the 64 bit DVD. And have already spent money on Books for FC6

here you are: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?t=245511 Ubuntu uses an apt-get system for getting debian packages, but any apt-get commands are just what packages you may need to search for and download. Also the beginning is a basic how to install linux which I'm assuming you know how to do so you can skip that part.
