I've been thinking of what I can do to help during this American tragedy. Then in hit me: donate money (sometimes the easiest, clearest options are not always the first thing I see:) )

But I'd like to take this one step further: I'd like to challenge all those here at PC Mechanic to donate their wages from 9.18.01 (one week from the tragedy) to the cause of their choice as listed on Helping.com (http://www.helping.com) (If you've already donated money, I thank you).

Pass this challenge on to your co-workers, your friends, your family, your entire address book...you name it.

Think about it: All those volunteers that are giving up days and days of wages to help in anyway they can, the families that are torn apart, the thousands without a job to help support their families.......When I think about those things, that one day's wage doesn't mean so much to me, but it seems like it will mean a ton to them.

Admirable idea.
My family donated blood and already sent a check to the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Knowing the people on this board, I'm sure just about everyone has done something or is in the planning stages.

I went to go donate blood last week and got turned away. They told me that their donantions were at an all time high, yet since there weren't that many survivors in NYC, much of the blood probably wouldn't get used before it's 45 day shelf life. They said that they would prefer if people came to donate blood 35 days from now, becaue they fear there will be a drop-off in donations since so many people gave recently; plus the shelf-life will eliminate most of what was given during the last week.

Cash is what they need, and IMO donations to the Red Cross, a non-polital, really world-wide organization, is the best to be able to distribute aid properly. Just click the message below for a quick and easy way to make your donation.

Thank you & thank you Craig for starting this thread.
