I got a G3 Mac at an estate sale , looks almost new not even any dust inside it. But it is running OS 8.6 and IE 4.0. The browser needs upgraded badly !! I can't view most pictures or download anything on it. But it seems most browsers are made for OSX now.

Know of a browser I can download on my PC and burn to a CD to install on the Mac.
Or should I find a first edition of OSX and try to upgrade the OS. It has 288 megs of ram and lots of room on the HD.

An aside ,I was amazed at the information left on the HD  I've wiped most of it off , lots of financial I'd not want in a dishonest persons hands !!

a g3 mac could be serviceable for simple web browsing, word processing, or for serving up mp3s. i personally wouldnt go with os x, depending on what g3 you have it may be possible, but its gonna be frustratingly slow to operate, even if you max out your ram. os 9, if you can it locate on the cheap, is what i would go with. check out the dealmac forums if you dont find a suitable answer here, im sure this has been well discussed there.
