MY AV s/w has just found the Worm/VB.AUG virus in the Firefox Setup 1.5.0.1.exe.
I have uninstalled Firefox but do not know how to reset Internet Explorer so that it picks up my browser links in the place of Firefox.
Is this commonly known and how can this be avoided for other releases before download/installation?

Control panel, Internet options - Programs tab - check the box to make IE the default browser. Open IE and it will ask you if you want to make it default, answer yes.

If you download Firefox from the official Mozilla site, it will not contain any malware. Perhaps you have a false alarm?

If you're using AVG, it looks like the virus is a false positive. This thread (and others) on the Mozilla forums cover it:

and on the AVG forums:

Also, Firefox is up to 2.0.x now...

Thanks for the responses - looks like it found one of those "false positives".
Since I removed Firefox and even though I have made IE the default browwser (as per glc's suggestion) whenever I click on a link in an email say, there is no connection. What else needs to be done to get my remaining browwer (IE) to connect my email links to the respective websites?

You might need to set up the defaults in 'Set Program Access and Defaults' (shortcut in the 'Start' menu). Choose the 'Microsoft' option if you want to use Outlook Express and Internet Explorer.
