my bad, wasnt paying attention to punctuation. and so i will re-do it. and of coarse by now i have got some of the problems fixed, i ran spyware, and WOW lots, but that only got my internet browsers working again , and so to the point.

i have windows XP, with SP2, and i recently installed windows meadia player 11, because it said update, when i opened WMP (windows meadia player) and so i updated from WMP 10 to WMP 11. and it worked for a couple days and than it just wouldn't open. and than i uninstalled it, and reinstalled it, and than it started to say "an internal application error has occured". so i posted a question on "yahoo answers" and i got an answer and said go to START_RUN_ and type in regedit, and search for WMP and delete what it finds,,, and so i did, and than it said to reinstall WMP 10 and it should work and it doesnt. so what do i do to make my WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 10 work again??

and i cant even roll back to previous versions either, but i did, but they dont work either !

Try doing a system restore back to a date when things were working correctly. Then you will have to do virus and spyware scans again.

nope nothing happened still but i was thinking what if i re-installed windows XP operating system. because i used to have to do that with windows 95, because sometimes when i virus is qaureenteened it stopes programs that are working. but the thing is that i never found a virus in the media players, so does anyone think if i re-installed windows Xp that it will work? and if i do do i have to reconnect and reinstall my internet settings? and download all windows XP updates?

and thanks anyways for system restore. but didnt do nothing.....

i used to have norton system works and than it stoped working and it brought me to a website, and i donloaded this program, that deleted EVERYTHING that was norton, and than i reinstalled norton and it worked like before without problems...is there something like that for windows media player 10 or 11? or an program that deletes programs without having ther message "this file is being used" ect, and i tried to manually delete the windows media file and files kept on coming back....if i can delete the folder with it i should be able to get it working, and or if i can reinstall windoes XP operating system, that might work too. i just need some advice, and read the reply i wrote above too please and thank you .

You can do a repair install of XP but you will have to redo all the security updates and any SP that isn't on the disk ( you can hold off on any others unless you want them.) and drivers.
I can't tell what went wrong with Media Player 11 the first time but when you altered the registry you did added damage ( As a future note, back up the registry before making changes. ).
The instructions are here : http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.php?t=151522

An update should leave your data intact but any really important/irreplaceable data should be backed up before you begin.

right to the point. ok i am having really big problems. seems like everything, is having something wrong with it happen. my internet explorer 7 can't go into windows up date web page. and all it does is say is done. and lately a get a memory dump, which means its a trogan, and or virus. and some media players are not working. and just clicking on a folder to open on the desktop, it takes longer to open, and seems like EVERYTHING is slowing down ALOT. i have a over 900 megahertz, with 256mb memory and like 40-80gb harddrvie with about 20 gb free and i have windows xp, with sp2 and virus software running virus behavor all the times it is on. and i have windows live one care. and i have tune up utilities 2006. (a registry cleaner and othr things with it) and i ran the optimization and regristry cleaner and defrager and it started to go a little slower, and i know haow to use it, and it just kept slowing down more and more, and so thats about the time i restored to back b4 i ran tune up utilities, and than i started to have memory dumps, and it would restart the comp. and so i ran the virus software (windows live one care) and went out, and came back, and it said it didnt find any viruses, wel i read the report and said that. and so now it seems still slow but the memory dumps have stoped. thank god, i came here like 5 times but i had 2 sentences and it shut down, so so far so good (not really) but another thing is when i go to defrag the sysytem, i cant get farther than 70-75 % not once, well years ago i did when i had windows 95 but i never got a full defrag on windows xp ever it always staps at or around 70 percent.

and so i know this isnt in form of a question, but any advice on anything i could do, or need to download some software, or anything that might help for this, please reply to this. but the thing is is that seems like its good for a bit and than bang slower than any other times, so anything at all or if you know what the whole problem is for all this hey, that would be GREATLY appriciated you have no idea how that would be awsome.

thanks for reply in advance, and please try to help me in this situation. and please dont say you cant read it cause i just read it it seems fine. i cant write that again so bare with me please...thanks

and i go to system restore but nothing shows up, than what else can i do, and how to fix the computer and make a system restore point, but i have to fix all this before i make system restore point...?

Back up your data now, while you still can.
The reputation of Windows One Care is such that the fact that it didn't find anything can't be counted on.
Now run chkdsk on the computer and also download and run the hard drive diagnostic. (You get that either from the OEM ( Dell, etc.) or from the hard drive manufacturer's site.).
Since you've never been able to complete a defrag the drive may have bad sectors.
If it checks out then you will have to format and reinstall, so make sure you've backed up everything you need to keep ( remember drivers and any downloaded programs with their registration keys) and that you've got all the settings needed to re-establish your internet connection and e-mail. Also make sure you've got all the user Ids and passwords for all your internet accounts.
At this point it's hard to tell what's going on.
The fact that WMP 11 quit on you could be the first clue or it might not.
That you deleted registry items might have made matters worse or it could have been the start or it might have nothing to do with this.
You may have some form of self-replicating malware.
You're best bet now is to cut your losses and start over with a fresh install.

Security software for the new install :
AVG (free)
ZoneAlarm (free)
Spywareblaster (free)
Spybot Search & Destroy (free)
AdAware (free)
CCleaner (free)

You are trying to run XP with all those utilities you mention on 900 MHz and 256mb ram and a hard drive that's 75% full? It's gonna be VERY slow..........

You need to run hardware diagnostics - especially on the ram and hard drive.

well today wasthe day where i thought my computer was going to thrown out the window. no internet connection, no anti virus software, no spywar, and no firewall. i had to unistall to install something else and to my suprise the installation screwed up, and coudnt install correctly. and so i went into safe mode, and screwed in some nuts and bolts, and got the internet back, and ran AVG, and found ONE trogan but wasnt really the one messing up thinkgs. but i downloaded PC TOOLS SPYWAR and it said 15 day trial, but when it found and had details about 48 things, thats what it is. there just no way to find them, and than clean them, cause it wont fix it until i buy, and idk, but i didnt have this program before and plus its new for 2007 o i wouldnt have a expired one cause its not the same program, but i know what it is i think, but al the pc tools software is doing is watching for spyware behavor, but it didnt notify me yet, but if it does theres nothin i can do cause it isnt boughtfor instead i have to buy to fix it, but the thing is that today when i had it in safe mode, is that it has to do with my regrisrty and spywar, cause it didnt find more than one virus, and it deleted it after i got my connection back, and downloaded 10 trials so i wouldnt have to need the connection if it happenes again. but its just doesnt make senseiu couldnt even put on my original windows fire wall on, something about sharing icp, or something and it said to do that to enable it and it didnt do nothiung, but make apear another annoying error. well anyways thanks anywys

and hopefully you can read it bare with me....thx again

Uninstall that PC Tools app and don't download multiples of trials.

Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy, are free tools for cleaning spyware.
TrendMicro's House call can clean viruses and spyware for free.
Go to TrendMicro : http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

You're making it very hard for anyone to read what you post.

well i know i wasn't worrying about my typing. well to be honest i was drinking, i needed to calm down, so anyways, this will be easier. now my computer, is pretty much back to normal speed, and like like a freshly deep cut, i dont want to open the cut again. as to say i'm keeping everything i open on here to a minimum, cause if it is spyware that hasnt been found yet. i do not under any surcomstances want to open what it is infecting. i have to keep the trails thats the only way i got this computer working again. im not installing 10 diff trials at once. if i didnt have a trail from a year ago stashed away on here i wouldnt of had AVAST! to save this computer. and so it found something but i forget what. but the interesting thing is that withthe pc tools it has said that what the certain spyware and or registry erors were, i from what i recall, there was some that were low warning of adware from certain programs, like add ons, but there was one in peticular that interested me it was something that could control my desktop, and or it said sceen, or something to do with the interent browsers. but i couldnt remove it, cause of some buy now to fix BS. so at this point things are running pretty smoothly, i have installed, AVG 7.5 for my virusscanning software. and i have installed COMONDO firwall for well of coarse my firewall. and for my spyware i have windows defender, which is i think softcore. and spybot which is a little more than softcore, but pretty close to hardcore at finding certain spyware , but not all spyware infesting this computer. but the thing thats worrying me is that i know pretty soon its going to have another infestation, and crash. thats wh7y i am not opening nothing i do not absolutly need to open, i run virus scan everyday and spyware scanning ever since i got internet connection back. and this isnt much of a question. but the point of this is to ask and or opinionate that i have programs finding spyware that add up to about50 errors, and onther one that has 200 + but they are not payed for and cannot fix. it find them in the part where it searches for activeX file, file allocations, font references, help files, file extensions, custom controls, and so forth. and i need a hardcore program, i dont know if its for registry scanning programs, but it finds tham in those types of files, and than at end it does a deep scan and finds the majoraty of them in that. and i have downl0aded that Ccleaner but it didnt do much, but thanks, help a little. it defined the programs that are either required or harmful, there was one that i stopped. but i need more i need something that will find those programs which have been found either to do with the registry or spyware. and even if i could download a 15 or 30 day trial, just something without limitations after finding them, that i can fix all. which will probably mean something free, and semi hardcore at finding. but i hope you can read this better. and i'll keep you up to date, just in case you pass something and think i should read it, or look at it, send me a webpage that maybe could help. well of coarse if you pass it while your on your own time. thanks

is there any good system opimizers you know of too? something that really works maybe ....
