Speed Test

Hello All,

I've been experiencing some extremely slow speeds with my cable connection...I've run the "speed test" from my providers site but I get very different results.

When I run the test from my desktop I get 80 Kbps download ONLY and when I use my laptop I get 4Mbps, there are both set up through a Dlink wireless router...what could be causing the difference in the results?

Is the desktop connected wired or wireless? Do you have ANY computer connected wired?

they are both wireless, I've tried connecting the notebook straight through the modem bypassing the router and still the same results.

Cable modem direct to the computer with an Ethernet cable is slow too? Have you tried both computers this way?

yes, I tried connecting both (one at the time) directly to the modem and still slow.

The problem has to be with your provider or your wiring from the pole to the modem. Contact your provider.

I've booked a service call, but would any of the "processes" running have anything to do do with it?

There are about 50 of them.
