A friend Online, had sent me an .nrg file of windows xp student edition. Instead of burning it to a CD I copied the ISO image converted through Alcohol software to one of my drives. Everything looked clean and tidy, setup file after clicking showed all the initial stages of xp installation. Just when the files are getting completed, copying, a pop-up comes with an error message. $WIN_NT$.~BT "a6rfkcri.sys" file missing, retry or exit!

Well I had called up my friend in US, he is running the same version, NO-Problem, he says that everything is okay, the version is genuine meant for students allowing number of copies to be run. Than why am I facing problem, should I burn the image file, and try the setup with a cd, will that make any difference? Please, guide me and help me out! Exactly what this error "a6rfkcri.sys" is about?

Thanking all you techs,
Ashfaq.

Sorry, we cannot help you with this. A student copy of XP does not entitle anyone but the user with the licence to use it - and certainly not outside of the US. Please refer to the rules. All I will say, is that this problem could easily be caused by a bad copy, or indeed, bad RAM.
