Hello
I was cleaning out the computer and moving files to a second hard drive. Somehow I lost some folders in my outlook express. The main folders are there but my folders in which I created are gone. I can see all the .dbx files in my documents folder but cannot get the folders to reappear in Outlook. I have outlook express 6 running WinXp Home. I moved my folder "My Outlook Stuff" from my X drive to my K drive. I tried moving the folder back to where it was but the folders in the outlook express local folders are not there. My Imap folders ARE in tact however
Thanks

Try this: say you have a folder named family.dbx. Create a new folder in OE with something like familyTest.dbx (the dbx won't show when you are creating it in OE). Copy at least one email to that new folder. Exit OE. Delete familyTest.dbx. Rename your "real" folder to familyTest.dbx (making a backup first, of course). Try OE again and see if the correct emails show up. If it works, then you can rename it while in OE.

Thanks for the reply Tworails.
I can "copy" the .dbx file but am unable to "paste" it anywhere. I tried sys restore with no luck, In outlook went to File, Import, messages. Received an error when trying to import my messages.

If you were not able to make a backup, you may be SOL. What are the file sizes?

The largest file is about 12,000 kb

Often you can get that back. Did you try the steps I mentioned above? If I get time this week I'll try it step for step myself to make sure I didn't leave something out...

I didn't quite understand the directions fully. Whatever I did do didn't resolve my problem. :(
Thanks
