I'm trying to upgrade a ME machine (HP pavillion 7960) to Win 2000 pro, I'm up to the point where the hard drive gets formatted to NTFS, some where in this process there is a section where the name of the computer is checked to make it part of a network, I get an error message saying that the computer name contains invalid characters...spaces and (.) are invalid (the name of the pc is 2320 UNION ST.) I'm able to change the name(2320UNIONST) and password to continue with the next step where the "some of the drivers are loaded" then the computer reboots and takes me to the same steps.....I'm in an endless loop.

Please help.

Thank you

Gabe M

Are you using a genuine Windows installation CD or a copy?
Have you tried leaving out the name and password? (they can be put in later).

Sorry but our rules prohibit the use or support of pirated or copied software. I'm forced to close this thread. Buy a legal copy and if you're problems persist, open a new thread. Thanx for understanding.
