What do I do when a program I want to run does not start? It is in the processes but never get there you can see it on windows task manager just sitting their take up memory

How long has this problem been going on?

Do you scan often with security software? Antivirus, antispyware, antitrojan?

What kind of background programs are you running on this computer?

What program are you having problems with?

1.Dell E510, P4 360, with 1gb of RAM, and ATI Radeon x300

2. a long time a year, i would just restart the computer and if I started it just after I restarted it would work

5. a game Stronghold 2, it works fine when it works

You're going to have to ctrl>alt>del and find out what background program is causing the problem ( one that loads rather later than the others, or used to.).

Also, when was the last time you checked for patches for that game?
Your best bet might be to move your saved games and reinstall and update.
