Has any one played this yet?
I am looking to get back inot RTS and I have ordered C&C First Decade, and I am having my wife send me starcraft, and warcraft III (im in afghanistan and needed something that would play on my laptop).
With all that said I am building a new system with Vista when I get home and I wanted to know if Supreme Commander was as good as all the reviews and SS's make it out to be.
Personal opinions?

2 Thumbs (and maybe a big toe) up. Decent gameplay and graphic detail. Ai was better than expected and responded well. Although 'Age of Empires 2' is my all time favorite, I must say I spent more time playing Supreme Commander than I should have. Can be challenging but it depends on your skill level.
That's just my opinion,

My skill level is horrible. I gave up on RTS when I tried playing starcraft online. I have no understanding of macros, and my timing and strategy are horrible. Thats why I want to try and get back into it. i want something super challenging. FPS just arent doing it for me anymore. I still like them and it is funn to go kill lots of people lots of times, but it has just gotten too easy. I want to be a noob at something agian.

Ya, me too (but the other way around). Once you get too good at something it just isn't rewarding to win it anymore. I do think you will enjoy that though, but its a fairly addicting game (at least for me).

It's good. Not heavy in my rotation but I come back to it after a week or two. It has an awesome zoom feature. And I love building monkeylords (huge mech spiders) followed by siegebots and mobile AA. So I'm primarily Cyberian.
I am currently in a trend where I like my games face paced and hard hitting. So maybe that's why it isn't in my game rotation much, being a grand strategy game it does take awhile. But it's good if you have time for strategy at a grand level as I sometimes want a game like that from time to time (when I have the time :P)
I also like C&C especially tiberian sun and will probably be getting Tiberian Wars as that seems to be faster paced.

I've got it and just got semi-hooked about 3 days ago.
Pros:
Sheer size.
Sheer detail.
Sheer ammount of units and things to do.
Ability to speed up and slow down time.
Good music.
Zoom function.
Cons:
Not really that much variety in units for 3 different teams. Only the experimental units are.
HUGE AI performance leap between medium and hard. Medium is too easy and hard too hard.
Buggy... have a friend who has SupCom as well and our games have been ruined by game crashing twice in 2 days.
A bit slow... takes hours to play a single game and so if you're looking for 'instant action', this might not be for you but then again you can speed up time.
If, like me, you're used to C&C, it might take a while to get used to interface.
I'm already bored of the repetitive music.
Undecided:
There's no actual money limit... you just have a sort of net income and you've got to be careful with it.
I also like C&C especially tiberian sun and will probably be getting Tiberian Wars as that seems to be faster paced.
Cool, Tiberian Sun is my favourite too and converted me to a C&C fan. I'll get Tiberian Wars because I NEED to... got and played all C&C games up to now. :D

Supremme commader is probaly the best rts game ever
i also play Warcraft 3 alot
Lord of the rings
C&C and the new one is coming out in 3days
Supremme cammander is HUGE, its micro commading that i like to call it can get very frustrating. This game's battles are by far the hardest to keep going right for you.
If you need to get better at RTS i would pick up a book called TZU Zuns art of war.
You dont need to read the whole book, but in the middle of the book its the strategic guide writtin by tzun zun and if you real all the chapters it will help you understand and offensive terrain and how to inflict serious damage to your oponent. The chapters are written very simply but you will need to read all chapters and then you will understand how war should be waged.

This game is getting high praise in various reviews ... MaximumPC gave it a 10, and they don't do that very often. I plan on picking this one up & 'investing' a few months of my life :p

That's way to high if you ask me. The rush tactic (win under 5 minutes) is rewarded in this game, which defeats the purpose of grand strategy if you ask me. I still like the zoom feature though.
