Hi everyone,

I saved some original jpg pics as image0xx.xyz and then I hid them in my hard disk. Then, I took these images and burned them in a CD as they were, as "hidden". I erased the pics from my hard disk but now, after time, I go to my CD, try to open the pics and I can't, it says that they are not in the right format. I copied them to my HD, tried opening them with paint, Windows picture and fax viewer and they say the same. Is there a way to get these pics back?

Did you really name them as .xyz?
If so, try changing to .jpeg

yes, I used the ".xyz" extension, but when they were on the HD I could access them just by selecting the application from Open With...

I tried now with the jpeg extension and did not work either.

You got a bad burn. Should have tested the CD before you wiped them from the hard drive.

Might be a bad burn bad the strange thing is that I have other files in the same CD which I can access no problem. However, they are in different folder. I think there is something special about these files, some security or something that the burning software put on them but I just don't know how to check for that.

A bad burn can cause some files to work, some corrupt, and some just don't exist.
