Me using my Sony 18X DVD Writer (DRU 830-A) to play DVD’s and then connect my PC to my 32”LCD TV.

Now the thing is I wana know am I getting lowered quality in any way?

I mean is it necessary to buy separate DVD Player to use with my TV?

Is their any cons in general if i use PC DVD Writer, instead dedicated DVD Player for TV? (Going to use PC satellite Speakers only – so thts ruled out.)

Also, I am not getting full screen playback in Media player 11, how to get it?

If your lcd can do the resolution you can get an upscaling dvd player for around $75 these days,
otherwise you're fine as is.
In the bottom right hand corner of WMP 11 you will find the full screen button.
No you're not going blind, it is all but invisible.

I prefer a standalone player whenever possible only because I get too annoyed with the relative noise computer drives typically make when playing a DVD.

A standalone DVD is not necessary but for some is preferred. In addition, you'll get slightly more convenient access to the controls with a standalone's remote than you will from getting up to use a mouse.
