Hi all, I'm looking into building a new gaming system. Is there anything I should do different, or would this make for a good system. I know I can go with more hard drive but I figure I can add later. I just bought windows xp pro upgrade. Since I didn't open it should I return it and get the full version. Does it matter which one. I know the 1200 watt ps isn't coming out till the May. Is that to much or should I go with the thermaltake 850 watt ps.

Thank you very much for your time

Vito

You don't need 2 video cards in SLI. Waste of money.

You don't need a 1200 watt power supply, waste of space, money and electricity.

For SLI'ed 8800GTXs, you need a PSU from Nvidia's certified list: http://www.slizone.com/object/slizone_build_psu.html The Etasis units on that list would be my first choice.

Why would you waste $600 for something you won't get the best performance out of?

Having dual 8800 GTX 768MB is no different from having just one. It just takes more power and creates more heat.

All you need is one, at least for another couple dozen months.

And if you really have that much money to spend, don't get the AMD 5200. Get intel C2D. Much better performance.

if you decide to go the c2d route, the prices will drop at the end of this month.....

Thank you for your replys.

I thought the dual cards, and psu were over kill. :D I will go with only one videocard, and a smaller psu.

How many watt psu would anyone of you recommend considering future upgrades like hard drives, more ram, or next gen video cards?

I'm not sure if I'm going to intel but can you recommend a board and cpu, just in case.

Thank you very much for your time.

Corsair HX 520W or Silverstone ST56ZF.

Yeah and with your 17'' panel, a single 8800GTX will be seriously bottlenecked. Having two will give you absolutely zero gain if not worsen performance.

Hi Farrari,
I didn't know corsair had psu. I knew they had memory. I'm going to check out those two you suggested. Thanks.

Thank you for your time
