Well... I got it. And... OMG awesomeness of awesomeness....
While I was waiting for this game, I was playing C&C Generals... got boring...
and then this!
AHHHHHHH!!!! Ok I haven't played it long enough, but so far it's fun and it runs on my Macbook*.... on lowest setting, which isn't ugly, I mean it's like 30 times better then the first C&C so I can't complain.
*Macbook 1.8ghz, 1gb of Ram (upgrading to 2) 60gb HDD (upgrading to 160), GMA 950 chipset... Running Windows XP Pro only.
So if it runs on my Macbook, then it should on most PCs...
Well most PCs that are decent in the last 2 years. This isn't a CPU oriented game, relies more heavily on the GPU's for higher graphics, I'm getting this game for my friend on SLI 8800GTS 640mb... and yeah... I think it'll look spectacular on his.
So far...
I ran into some bugs, but I think it's my Macbook... (why might you ask that I have Windows XP, PC games of course, and also I can't install Mac OS X on it... or else I'd have this running in Parallel and on my gf's 50 inch plasma TV)
yeah...
Well I'll write more when I get more into the game, I've had this game for like an 1hr so yeah... Couldn't help but write a topic on it. Anyone else got it? I got the Kane Edition btw.
for low graphics I'd give it a 9/10... and I get like no lag.
overall game feel, a lot better then generals, with more squad based orientation, kinda like Company of Heroes (current fav on my macbook)
well I'll be back. Maybe wit some screenies too.

That's good to hear, thanks for the mini-review! Hope you can provide some more game info.
What's special about the Kane Edition, by the way? I've pre-ordered the Kane Edition and should arrive next week after the Easter holz. Can't wait! :)

With the Kane edition you get a few extra mods, some nice booklets etc. It sold in Australia for the same price as the normal version, so most people thought why not

C&C is the awsomeness
i have a 2.2 ghz, 1gb of ram , nvidea 5700 fx and its runs on the lowest settings
i can bump up the antialising 1 notch
but if i bump anything else up forget it it runs like a slow motion movie its kinda cool to see everything blow up in slow motion but it gets very frustrating very quickly
the story line is really good so far only played the GDI campaign where u get instant command status of the whole easter sea boarder of the USA.
The units are really cool i think it lacks a little maybe more units but im sure we will be seeing an expansion pack soon.
My borther has a 3.2 ghz 2gb of ram asus nvidea 7950 gt 512 mb
I installed the game on his computer (he doesnt like this kinda games actually he hates them) so i didnt ask him
WOW the graphics are so much better its crazy insane
the graphics run on full and its a difference so huge i cant play it on my machine any more
this game is a def must get

Well I got it 2 days ago and I have to say i'm very happy! :D
My specs (signature) can run the game at full settings without a single bit of lag and it looks stunning. The static objects aren't terribly impressive but the effects are. The explosions, heat haze, smoke, lasers etc are the stars. As well as eye candy you get varying units and plenty of little extra weapons to use at little cost.
After playing Supreme Commander for a while, it was nice to have some instant action in a 30 minutes explosive battle instead of a potentially dull 3 hour match with potentially little action. I still like SupCom but you can't just have a go when you have a little spare time, but with this you can and it's great. Plenty of variation in the units and weaponary to play with as well as structure architecture to keep your eyes busy. My only complaint about the game is that there is too little Tiberium AKA resources (IMO) so you can feel a little restricted but then again that could add another variable which would be who can manage their funds the best.
It's nice to have an additional army in the Scrin as well as the GDI and NOD and i've already found that they're my favourite of the 3. Stunning looking as well.
The music is also quite good and, according to imdb at least, it's composed by the same guy who did the music for the movie The Island.
If you like RTS, this is a MUST BUY. Kane Edition extra DVD features are interesting as well and it gives you tips on how various units can be used to their best effect. 9/10.

Totally Agree. I too have SupCom and it takes a bit more time. I like that but that amount of time I don't have all the time.
This game also has factions that are all different. in SupCom, it seems only the experimentals were different.
I feel the game needs a long range missle launcher though (slow loading to make it even).
Also the ability to make outposts is too quick IMO (you can send outposts out from start). I've seen other players thwart their own allies harvesting because of this, and drain their resources.
I've only played 3 missions from the campaigns (2 from GDI and 1 from NOD). It was okay but I can't comment on that, since it was limited to 3.
The online multiplays will definately need more maps. I have read that their world builder (custom map maker) should be coming along pretty soon. It was the custom maps that still made Tiberian Sun very fun, still is actually, I was playing tib sun online while waiting for this game to come out and was suprised that community was out, with noobs even :D
Online is very good and has potential for more with world builder. you always have the option for compstomp if you need to catch up on online on this game. And that is where I am at right now. Even playing against 2 medium and 2 hard (with 3 human allies) may get you steamrolled by comps depending on your allies. Then again we were all private noobs.
There is unranked and ranked play.
Another thing is you have to register with gamespy to get your ID to play online (perhaps there was an easier way but's that how I did it). Fortunately I had an account already so didn't have to register again. I just had to register the game.
So if you want Grand Strategy that takes hours and hours for just 1 game: SupCom (and even then then there are rushers that don't want to maximize the game)
Strategy that quite fun with eye candy and does not take so long: Tiberium Wars
There seems to be a heavy influence from Battlestar Galactica too as Boomer and #6 are part of the campaign storylines. Micheal Ironside is in there too.
I almost forgot, I play it on full settings as well. GG
9.0/10.2

I haven't played the game yet, but one thing i've noticed from reviews is that it is widescreen friendly, supporting resolutions like 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 with correct aspect ratio. Also, people are able to run these resolutions with no slowdown. This is important because a lot of enthusiasts are now running these games on widescreen LCD monitors and televisions.
I think this is HUGE, namely b/c RTS's games were really starting to fall behind in that area, yet another drawback to an embattled genre, but with C&C:TW it looks like developers finally starting to bring RTS's back up to spec.

I run an all-or-nothing strategy so at the beginning I build as many cranes as I can so I can build up to 5 things simultanously and I get a super weapon up in 4mins providing the cash is there.

well i guess it depends on the map also
this was a 1 on 1 map
for 1 on 1 i suggest a infantry strategy because if you build yor whole base ur probably gonna run out of Cash before u can build a army large enough for a decent offensive
i think you would be over run even with decent defense if the other players build a army for an offensive and he can cause serious damage
now on a bigger map i would do the all or nothing cause super weapons are a huge part of that strategy.
so an a bigger map i would build even up to 4 harvesters on a 1 on 1 maybe 2 or 3 max
cranes are good but if there is isnt enough cash then u just wasted time and money.
so on a 1 on 1 buld some defense and most defense like the rail guns will cause serious damage to a infrantry group
another good strategy is build some infantry and put them on near by buildings and they will act as very cheap and strong defenses
my question is with one resourse of tiberium what would you build 1st and what order
how many harvestewrs?
