Hi all,
Well today I did my normal holiday duties and took my wife to a site of historical interest. This time to a place called Port Mahomack. While she is looking round I take the dog for a walk, and my eyes light up. I want one!!!!. What you might ask. There in a carpark is the car of my dreams. Aston Martin DB9. This is a car I want!!!!! It might just be a dream, but we all need dreams. For those of you that dont know the car see the link

I believe that one, (or a very similar model) was featured in the 2002 James Bond movie, "Die another Day". Very nice car.

The Die another Day Aston was the Vanquish - the model 'above' the DB9, although now largely discontinued pending the arrival of the Vanquish S (I think!). Casino Royale featured the DBS - also yet to be released.
But I'd happily take any of them ;)

My god, don't make a topic on Aston Martin. I wouldn't be able to keep quiet about them and everything that probably means nothing. They're absolutely stunning. I'll try and keep a lid on it. :D
The Vanquish has already been discontinued and has been replaced by the Vanquish S which'll be joined by a special black edition of the car before it's completely discontinued.
For the ones with families here, you should consider the Rapide which will be released in 2010ish. A 4-door Aston! ;)

Ah yes, that's right, I'm reminded of Q's play on the name: "Aston Martin calls it the Vanquish, but we like to call it the Vanish". Anyone remember that scence? Sorry don't mean to turn this into a movie thread, just a big James Bond fan.

Ooooooh yes, the Rapide :)

Saw one in the flesh at the London motorshow last year, very beautiful GT car.
Speaking of Motorshows, I wonder, Disgrace, if you've ever been to the rather large annual show in your home town? ;)

I think the V8 Vantage looks the best of all the current Astons (I haven't really seen enough about the DBS so I can't comment on that). I'd still rather have something like the Audi RS4 Avant wagon, though (or even the new BMW M3 wagon when that comes out -- but neither of them are/will be available in the US). All the performance of a V8 Vantage (and most of the performance of the DB9) but in a much more practical package.

Hey, so am I! :)
Got Casino Royale on DVD recently... nice to see it again.

Saddest part of the film. Makes me sound sad too... :p

Absolutely, twice since i've been here. '06 and '07... tons of photographs; 171 from '06 and 204 from this year. I managed to actually touch the Rapide last year (with pictures to prove it!) but wasn't here this year, though. I could go on but I shan't. :)

Casino Royale is out on DVD? Sweet....I'm going to have to pick that up pretty soon. And yes the car does get totalled, quite the interesting scene too if you ask me (of course only Bond would have such quick reaction time :)).
tfh,
Excellent choice on the RS4! I'm a big fan of the Audi S series myself, would love to have an S4.....have you seen the RS4 convertible? Looks pretty nice too.

I've decided I want my next car to be a wagon, so no cabrios. ;) I just love how much I can fit into wagons. Unfortunately the S4 Avant is out of the question, because even the 2004 models (the first year they had the V8) are still over $30,000. I doubt I could afford that coming out of college. Since I am already seeing 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5GTs for under $20,000, I think that will end up being much more reasonable.

Yeah, I remember looking at that too, they are quite expensive. I just saw a pic of the Audi R8....man I think I want of those too.:)

The real James Bond drove a 1963 Aston Martin DB5. It was stolen several years ago. Don't know if they ever found it.
