It's getting about that time again, my computer doesn't meet the minimum specs for most of the games now and I'm thinking about upgrading. I noticed that practically every game thats coming out for PC is also coming out for the 360, some say they even play\run\look better than some top end PCs. If they are going to get the same games and look practically the same then I will get a PC just focusing on other applications besides gaming and a 360 and save some money. What's your guys' takes on this?

Go to a gaming store and look at one and play on it... let your eyes be the judge. See if they can run a game that you currently own for comparison.
I wouldn't mind a PS3.. but am going to wait until the PS14 comes out because I'm not paying that kinda pricing on the PS3.

well normally I would but my PC is a piece of crap anyway: P4 1.6GHz 1GB ram Radeon 9600se. So I can't compare it to a good PC that I would end up with, maybe someone here can though?

If all you want to do is play games then the PS3. A very fast gaming computer will cost you a lot more than $700. I like you're idea of a PS3 for games and a cheap computer for everything else. Look at the cheapest Dell computers. They are around the price of a PS3.

In my (limited) experience, PC monitors have sharper images than televisions (including the two HDTVs I've run my computer through) so the same game _can_ look better on a PC than a console. Personally, FEAR, Halo1 and Farcry look better on my computer than my friend's XBOX and XBOX 360...

The PS3 can play on a computer monitor.

Good point. Then it becomes a question of whether the titles you like are out for PS3; it certainly has the hardware to kill any PC around :-)

Well I'm still getting a pretty nice computer for Photoshop and 3d modeling, it's just whether or not I want to spend a lot on a video card or not.
It seems that all the games I wanted to play on the PC are coming out for the Xbox360: Alan Wake, Crysis, Assassin's Creed, Project Offset, Bioshock, etc. I really love my PS2 but the PS3 lineup doesn't look too hot to me, with the exception of MGS4 and FFXIII which may or may not be exclusives.

the last console i owned was an N64. unless i can get a really good deal on a 360 or ps3 i wont be buying one. i prefer to play games on my pc for a few reasons. 1) most any game that comes out for ps3 or xbox will also be out for pc. 2) i only have 1 system to worry about rather than buying a computer and game console. 3) a pc can be upgraded to get even better performance while a ps3 or xbox will be the same everyday, forever. until the next console comes out anyway. its all in what you prefer. i have friends who only use a computer to get online, the system is less than 1Ghz with probably 256mb of ram. they dont see any point in upgrading the computer so they just but a console and play. but if it were me, i would go with the computer.

I haven't owned a console in years, but as soon as I can actually find a Wii without the overinflated price, I'm buying it. That console is just too cool.

Hey Flop... that should be more like;
............, but as soon as I can actually find a Wii <strike>without the overinflated price,</strike>, I'm buying it.
Im a Wii man myself, I do plan on getting one when theyre easy to find. Other than that, Im a PC gamer. Theres some things you can do with a mouse and keyboard that you just cant do with a control pad.
