I'd like to do a major rehaul on my current pc. Im going to upgrade to PCI-e(about time) I' need a motherboard, GPU, CPU, PSU, RAM. (adhd moment, so many 3 letter designations =P )
I have these
- AeroCool ATX midtower case to use again.
- asus CD-Burner and DVD-Rom to use as opticals.
- WD Raptor WD360GD 36.7GB Serial ATA150 boot drive and Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 Sata - NCQ 160GB 7200RPM serial ATA150 storage drive.

What I need.
Motherboard I don't know much about sub 150usd would be good. skt 775 becasue i plan on using this processor
-Conroe 6600 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115003
-I was planning on this PSU Corsair- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001
-I would prefer a version of the Nvidia8800 I have heard that eVGA does good so what would be a good version?
-And I was going with 2gigs of ram so any ideas.

I have a Monitor mouse keyboard ect.

And I have XP Pro... Sorta. I can no longer find my disc anywhere and i don't know where it could be. ='( It is a legit version I have the box, License#, CD Key, etc. I have no clue if this is a stupid question or not. Would Microsoft replace the CD? even for a small charge? That would be great because i would prefer to not buy an OS. But if I can't i would probably go Vista then. And since i already have this thread going what version of vista is recomended? I've been reading the threads and such but mostly they are about glitches and bugs. so any input there would be great.

thx.

EDIT: I'm not on a super tight budget, but anywhere I can save $ would be great.

EDIT2: I don't know why that icon is the exploding face, I'm not mad... I did try to change it.

The parts you picked out are good. Pair them with an Asus P5B series motherboard. For the RAM, Corsair VS DDR2-667 is a good option.

eVGA is solid for the video card. If you are on a budget, one of the 320MB 8800GTS cards would be a good fit.

How's this Corsair ram look - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145098
I did have a question between these two cards, the second has a little bit faster mem and core clock speeds , will that affect preformance much? Here are the two cards

Out of curiosity how does the 8800 series compare to the x850xt cards? I googled and looked through tomshardware but didn't find anything. I don't need to know but I am curious.
Thx

Good choice for RAM.

You wouldn't notice a difference between the two cards. I'd get the less expensive one.

The 8800 series would perform much better then the X850 cards. Those are a couple of generations behind in technology.

I actually saw this board that looked good to me. ASUS P5N-E. I'm not planning on going SLI but I liked the rest of the board, and if there is a time I would go 2xGPU id have the option then. - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131142

here is the way to replace lost Microsoft discs. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246
(When I had been searching how to replace XP i had been typing "disc" not "disk". =(
