Media player and dvdshrink conflict?

Hello all,
I have a Gateway GT5238E.
Has plenty of memory (1 gig) and processors to do whatever I have needed at the same time with little drop in speed or performance, but for some reason now when I am running dvdshrink backing up a dvd and I go to listen to music on Windows Media Player, the music is garbled and unlistenable. When dvdshrink stops, the music plays fine.
This was never an issue before, i could do both without any issues, but now it seems like there is something gobbling up resources.
I look under task manager, and have changed the priority on dvdshrink to low and media player to above normal, but that hasn't helped.
I haven't added any programs or changed anything, it just suddenly started doing it.
I am at a loss.

Any ideas anyone?

Hello, addendum to the above post-
It's not just dvdshrink that is problematic.. I try and view pictures with a Windows slide show and the same thing happens.. it's only slightly garbled but it slows and one can tell that resources are being drained from the program..

Sounds trivial it's not a bsod, but it is making me crazy :)

I have had similar issues.

you went into DVD shrinks internal settings and changed it to run in background and not eat resources as well as just changing priorities in task manager?

what other processes are running? maybe you can cut down on the other processes, maybe you have spyware or something eating resources which is only noticeable when dvd shrink is putting strain on the remaining resources, run a few spyware searches with Seeks and Destroy or AVG anti spyware or Adaware SE see if that can help at all.

I will check on the dvd shrink settings, but I have run all three you mentioned, s and d, AVG adaware and Spybot, nothing coming up.. ?

sorry thats all i can think of.

i assume your ram is all working and reconised in my computer properties?

is it an internal DVD drive or external USB one? if exteernal maybe its putting power strain on your system?

Ram is fine, no conflicts in device manager
