Ok I'm a noob, whats the diffence between DDR 667 and DDR 533? I'm useing a Intel (Big Lake) 945G Motherboard and after checking around found the it supports both types of DDR, I'm curntly useing DDR 533 (2 Gig worth) and was wanting to upgrade it to 4 but not sure which is better or if you have to have all the same type of DDR or have like 2 DDR533 and 2 DDR667. and 1 more question is duel channel better? I play a lot of online games like Battlefield 2142 and DAoC. thanks for any info you guys can give.

We need to know which CPU you have to recommend best match.

Dual channel does give a small performance boost.

If you are using Windows XP, it cannot use more then 3.2GB of RAM, just so you know.

I looked at a graph a while ago that compared 533/667/800. I couldnt find it, but I remember the results. They were all very close, maybe around 3% difference bewteen each one. Barely any. I would just save some money and stick with the 533, and maybe try to configure it in Dual Channel (if you can).

Probably get another opinion besides mine before buying anything.

That is correct but if your able to then you could simply move to 64 bit

It doesn't matter as long as the ram is compatible with that exact model Gateway. With that processor, it's not going to run faster than 533 anyway. Beware generic ram, buy from a configurator.
