My computer has been freezing randomly and when I push in a certain spot it unfreezes. My computer repair person thinks it's a cracked motherboard or something loose. I am trying to decide how much a replacement motherboard will be but I don't know what kind of motherboard I need. My compute is HP / Compaq nx6110 Intel Pentium M 730 1.6GHz / 802.11b/g Wireless / 14.0-Inch XGA/ 256MB DDR / 40GB HDD/ CDRW / DVD Combo / Windows XP Home / Notebook PC. I'm not sure what other info I need to determine my motherboard type. Can anyone help me decide what I need? Thankyou so much!

Heya Dottie, and welcome to PCMech!

Getting a replacement motherboard for a notebook will be tricky, because as far as I know it isn't your average do-it-yourself job. Maybe give HP tech service a call and check on a rate for sending in your machine for repairs, and report back.

if it is still under warranty let HP fix it. also see if there is any local laptop repair shop's authorized by HP may be cheaper and faster than sending it in for repair
