Thank goodness my ol' VX-97 ain't really dead yet - the BIOS chip is only fried. (don't ask how it got fried, I did a hot-flash... and put the chip upside down... dang it! So embarrasing! :o)

So I happened to have a half-broken TX-97, and checked the BIOS chip, ripped the stickers and found they are both similar, brand, model number and part number. Only difference is another code number which is maybe the production number, or the date, or the how-many-th chip is that.

I flashed the TX-97's BIOS with VX-97's latest one, and stuck it inside the VX-97 empty BIOS slot.

It worked. I can see the life inside. Finally, after two years of dormancy.

Now I can turn this into a Linux machine or some sorta jukebox. I'll drop in a 200MHz processor later when another VX-97 I'll order is coming. :)
