I have a question. (Obviously  ) It seems that my PC is "degenerating" I know I have ordered new components just because it need the upgrades anyway. But I have (as of now) have
P4P800SE
X850xtpe
1gig(2x512) OCZ pc3200
420watt thermaltake psu
XPPro
22"widescreen.
I think those are the only parts I need to list (Let me know if you need more)
I play mainly CounterStrike Source. And when I first had the x850xtpe card i ran anywhere from ~75-120 fps on all the way high settings and at the time a had a 19"lcd running the game at 1280x1024 and slowly it got to the point I was running at about 60-80 fps same setting and all so i went through ran a dozen virus scans, adaware spybot etc. and nothing helped I ran disk defrag, disk cleanup and all, and nothing helped. and there were times that i hit "lag spikes" when i hit low 20s and even teens fps. However my ping stays low so that isnt an issue, choke and loss are fine as well. I run a modified version of casey's config. the new cal legal one. (for those that have a life and don't know what a config is, it supposedly modifies the game to run smoother, and gets rid of unwanted things, ex- bodies disapear after they die, bottles disappear after geting shot etc. just makes it eaasier for the pc to run the game.) even lowered the settings to low and i still get the same fps as running on high. It didn't make a difference. I thoroughly cleaned my case heartsenks intakes etc. and now i have a 22widescreen running at 1680 x 1050 andrunning at all low I get 40-60 fps. can anyone help me up my fps? I know 60 is good decent for fps but i know it does better than that.
Thx in advance

Edit: And I have exited any unneeded background programs AIM, X-Fire, WMPlayers. and even when norton starts its weekly virus scan the game still runs at 40-60 fps it just feels choppy.

420 watts seem pretty low by todays' standards, but perhaps you have symantec 'spyware' running in the background. I hate that program with zest. But others may have more experianced replies.

Yeah I thought about the PSU but I have never had a problem with it before. Ii was recomended to me actually a being a high quality PSU. And I've never had a problem with it. http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/Power/PurePower/w00089r/w00089r.asp

What symantic stuff can i get rid of? Im at work on lunch right now but i think its Norton Security Suite 05. But like i said It has worked before with everything running and then some. And had great preformance as well.
Any Ideas?

Thx
