my computer is idling between 50-53c according to pcalert4, which is generally about 10 degrees cooler than the bios says if i restart and check the temp. under load the temp is from 63-67c according to pcalert so it would b at 73-77c. ive read other articles posted here and the my temps seem really high. i recently added two fans to my case and the temperatures barely changed only a few degrees C. my grahpics card reads about 43c when the cpu is at 64c. i am runnign a 3000+ AMD sempron, 80gb hd, 768m ram, geforce 6200 graphics card. im runnign teh system stock and i cleaned the case yesterday. any suggestions on how to cool the system down?

Have you tried reseating the heatsink? It might not be making proper contact with the CPU.

thats always possible as when they have been on there awhile the thermal paste kind of gets cooked, then when the seal is broken it will not do near as good of job, with those specs and that cpu it does sound a little hot. what were your temps before you cleaned your case?

When you cleaned the computer did you also remove the fan from the CPU heatsink to see if the heatsink fins were full of dust? A dusty heatsink would cause the CPU temps to go up.

i didnt remove the fan but i sprayed the heatsink with canned air. ill try taking off the fan. and someone had told me to try reseting the heatsink on the CPU but i have never removed it or tried, would it be possible that it isnt set right?

Did this problem exist since the computer was built?
