a linux that works

hello.im trying to find a linux program that will accept my wireless network. have a lynksys 300n usb device that linux cant find.any help here is appreciated.running windows xp,msik8nneo4platinum,amd4000.

What exact distribution of Linux are you using?

sorry glc,had to break away.tried ubunto version 5.10.the network seemed to work with the live cd,not with the install.then there is one called test driving linux made in 2005,and last there is simply mepis 3.3.

Your best bet may be the latest Ubuntu distro, 5.10 predates any N-series wireless adapters. What you need to do is fire up Google and see what others are saying about your specific model adapter.

Feisty Fawn (7.x) should have much better support for wireless cards, give that a try.

Simply upgrading your distribution isn't the way to learn why it isn't working.

Best thing to do is to figure out why, plug it in and type 'dmesg' into the terminal.

Paste into here the output of the last few lines to do with USB and we'll have a go.
