I have a athon 64-1.6 or 8 mhz. processor, a 512mb graphics card, 2gb of ram, and I'm trying to play Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth. The game freezes up, the sound freezes up. And I've tried everything. From going into the Divice Manager, Task Manager, and downloading the lastest drivers for the computer and updating the game. Nothing works, is the hardware that I have junk or is the game junk? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!:)

edit : I returned this to "normal".
Shouting at us doesn't help.

Hi Mark. Welcome to PCMech.

No need to shout, you can just type in regular font and colors. Someone will usually respond fairly quickly, and you'll likely get a better response that way.

What are your exact hardware specs? For example, what type of video card do you have? What is your OS?

Also, is the game freezing up and recovering, crashing back to Windows, or shutting your whole computer down? Anything else cause this to happen?

I wasn't trying to shout, I just have bad eye sight :D . OS is Windows XP, Graphics card is Geforce 7600 GS OC 512mb, Proccessor: AMD Athlon 64 2800+ ? 1.8mhz, Ram is PNY 2gb, I think it is the Trend Micro Internet Security 2007, but I don't because I shut it down and I still had the problem. Well Tonight I retryed it with my Wireless Router turned off and that seemed to work. But I don't want to shut it off all the time, What should I do? Help!!!

What brand of wireless router, what settings on it and the Trend Micro software?
It appears you haven't given everything the permissions they need, time to dig out the manual.

Also go over to the tech section of the game forum : http://forums.ea.com/mboards/forum.jspa?sls=2&forumID=2031

Check if there's anyone else having the same/similar problems and read through the suggested solutions .

Thanks Pam123. But I was looking for info on the first Lord of The Rings: Battle for Middle Earth 1... But the link did give me somewhere to start. Also I'm having problem with Star Wars: Empire at War. I have a Actiontec router. Maybe I should just spend the money, to have a perfessional look at the puter?
Thanks again marksnightmare.

Are you using the regular nVidia drivers? Try uninstalling the card and install the 93.71(I think)_forceware xp drivers from the nVidia site to see if that makes a difference.

Are both games having the same problem ?
That is they play OK with the router shut down?
If so the router settings are wrong.
If you call a pro make sure he gives you a written record of the settings he uses so you can do it yourself at a later date.
