Hello,

I am wondering what type of BF2 gaming performance I would get out of the following system:

Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Allendale 1.8GHz 2M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - Retail

ASUS P5B LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Kingston 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Retail

Western Digital Caviar SE WD1600JS 160GB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive

LITE-ON Black 18X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 8X DVD+R DL 18X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 12X DVD-RAM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM IDE DVD Burner - Retail

EVGA 256-P2-N541-T2 GeForce 7600GS 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail

What would I be able to expect for frame rates and detail settings?

Lots of RAM is very important and you've got that covered well. As far as video goes I don't think BF2 is a huge hit on the video card. The 7600GS is a good mid-range card and I would think it would do decently. Here's a review for the card:

Looks like you should be able to handle it at 1280x1024 at fairly high settings (I'd try for 2x AA, their 37fps is a little low, otherwise reduce the resolution or go without AA).

Battlefield 2 is a bit of a hit on the video card actually, or at least it was when it first debuted. Anything over a 6800 GT ought to work, because I run it on the pc in my sig and it works fine with medium settings at 1280x1024. Now, if I had a board that supported dual channel ram (my board is that old) then it would run even better.

My friend and I used to play it competitively when it came out, and it ran incredibly smooth for him. His system at the time was an AMD 3200+, ATI x850, and 1 gig of ram. Can't remember his mobo, but it ran maxed out at 1280x1024 without a hitch. He said it got a little choppy at 1600x1280, but was still very playable.

my system plays it smooth on the lowest settings and lowest resolution
i have an abit av8 mobo
with 1 gb of ram and a Asus Nvidea fx 5700 256 mb

my friend has the 7600 and its look ALOT better than my comp
better textures and the guns look realistic
also bullet holes on the wall
my system only has a smoke effect on the walls but no bullet holes

That setup should handle all BF2 settings to max.
