problem with ubuntu and nvidia 5200

i have a nvidia 5200 graphics card....and ubuntu(or ny linux version) hangs after installation....wat might be the problem?

Do you have nVidia drivers installed? The instructions here are pretty good: http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Install_Beryl_on_Ubuntu_Edgy_with_nVidia

Just go as far as installing the nVidia drivers; the stuff on installing beryl isn't what you want.

*EDIT* Which version of Ubuntu are you using? the instructions above are for Edgy Eft. There are Feisty instructions on the same site.
