I didn't want to highjack snarkys thread so I made this one. It's a pretty easy question. Is there any reason to actually buy the 3dmark benchmark tests or is the free edition just fine? Is there any major advantages to buying it. I know you can customize the tests but is there anything that makes it worthwhile to purchase?
Thx

Oh yeah and i just noticed I titled my thread the same as snarkys. Oops if and admin wants to combine threads its ok with me, but like i said i didn't want to hjk anything =)

If you follow the Futuremark link Alaron provided, there are freeware (although limited) versions available.

Yes, thats what I noticed, but is there any advantage to buying one since there are freeware versions?

The purchase versions include a lot more tests and detail. Here is a comparison chart for 3DMark: http://www.futuremark.com/products/3dmark06/features/

But all people really compare are the base scores, so I wouldn't bother buying it.
