How to get rid of downloader.ab trojan virus

my friend has this trojan on his computer: downloader.ab It is the most ridiculous thing i've ever seen, his computer just goes haywire at the most random times. Anyhow, it's getting close to exam time and our tech guys at the university have had no luck getting rid of this thing for him. I read up on it and it seems like it can be pretty malicious. As for removal, he's tried a bunch of different software, McAfee, etc.
What is that link where you scan your computer online? I think that may help him, I was wondering if there were any other suggestions as to what he can do.

Try this (http://www.spywareremove.com/removeGeneric_Downloader.ab.html). I haven't used this particular one but I did find one to remove a very stubborn SmitFraud one on this site.
