Having just completed building my 1st computer and fighting my wat through installing Media Center 2005 I only have 2 problems.

1 I can't get the USB 2.0 drivers to install. They came on the MB driver disk. When I attempt to install I am told that SP1 must be installed. The XP came with and installed SP2. Isn't everything from SP1 in SP2? Would stuff get messed up if I installed SP1, loaded drivers for USB 2, and reinstalled SP2?

2 The LiteOn DVD RW shows up as a DVD ROM in explorer. But in BIOS and Device Manager it shows up as a DVDRW.

Any help on either fix is most appreciated.

Did some further investigation. It looks like only the USB expansion ports in the front of the case are still 1.1. This my not be the OS at all since the case is over 3 years old. The ports in the back of the computer are 2.0. I can live with that. It is easy to get to the back if needed.

Haven't tried to burn anything since I thought there was no avaiable burner in explorer. All I have for software so far is the Nero essentials that came with the retail writer.

I downloaded a burn utility called InfraRecorder, looks nice, free, but can't attest to its worthiness yet.

My DVD-RW reports as a CD-ROM in some places in WinXP. I don't worry about it, it burns DVDs when I ask it to ....
