Has the Taliban ever stated that they DO NOT sponsor/support terrorism?
Or are they just thumbing their noses at the rest of the world?

Much of the wars between the middle eastern countries is fought using "terrorism". Bin Laden was a close ally to the Taliban in their gaining control of the country and also in holding off the Russian troups. I imagine they feel obligated to him.

To them it is not terrorism. It is Jihad. Of course, you can call it anything that you want but it is still a crime. CNN ran an interesting special by a woman reporter that used a hidden camera to film in Afghanistan. It was quite interesting and quite disturbing. If they brutalize their own women and children, what difference does it make to them if they kill others through terrorist acts. They could probably teach Hitler a thing or two.
I think thier book calls defending themselves "Jihad", holy war. Of course some take this 'defending themselves' as taking the offensive.

Yea... a Jihad... whatever. There are 6 sacred rules to a Jihad that they have broken every one.
1) Never kill a child
2) Never kill a woman
3) Never kill an old person
4) Never kill a man or soldier that is unarmed or has surrendered.
5) Never destroy a tree
6) Never destroy a building

In history the crusades were to bring the heathen (islamic nations) to the light and was indeed a holy war.
A jihad is a holy war (against the infidals). Bush bought the term crusade to this struggle.
Both terms and both methods will define in some way the right to kill even though it is prohibited by both islam and christianity.
History repeats.
BTW I am an agnostic, the rules I live by do not prevent me from seeking retribution to its fullest extent. My basic philosophy looks to understand why.
