Dell DVD Writer wont Recognise Certain Disks

Hi All

I have just got a new Dell and trying to burn an image to a disk and found that the DVD RW drive wont recognise my DVD disks and the drive continually spins. I know my friend had a problem with his Dell and this type of Media so i purchased all of his as well, problem being that now I have a Dell I cant use them (typical!).

Anyway, here are the details you may want: -

Dell DVD +-DVD RW (unbranded as far as I can see)
Media - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Titanium-DVD-R-4-7Gb-FullFace-Printable/dp/B000BPCW5A Datawrite Titanium 8x 4.7gb DVD-R.
OS - Vista Home

I have successfully managed to burn to a Memorex DVD+R without any issues, but I cannot find any other DVD-R's about the house to test, although my friend was able to use both + and - without any problems (as expected), but just this one type of media seemed to cause issues.

Any help or pointers in the right direction would be great. If you need any more info from me, please let me know.

Some drives are just very picky with what media they take.


All you need to do is find a brand of media that is the drive likes... and stick with it.
